Do you file dental insurance claims on my behalf?

Yes. As a courtesy, we submit your dental insurance claim directly to your carrier so you don't have to. Before your visit, we verify your benefits and give you a clear, written estimate of what your plan is expected to cover and what your out-of-pocket portion will be. If your insurer pays less than estimated, any remaining balance is your responsibility; if they pay more, we promptly refund the difference.

What is a copay, and when do I pay it?

A copay (or co-insurance) is the portion of the treatment fee your dental plan expects you to pay at the time of service. We collect your estimated copay on the day of your appointment. We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards — Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover.

How do deductibles work?

A deductible is the amount you pay out-of-pocket each plan year before your insurance begins to share the cost of covered services. Most dental plans reset the deductible on January 1st, and preventive visits (cleanings, exams, x-rays) often do not count toward it. When we verify your benefits before your appointment, we'll tell you exactly how much of your deductible has been met so there are no surprises.

What if I don't have dental insurance?

You're welcome here. Many of our patients pay directly. We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards, and we're happy to give you a written treatment estimate in advance so you know the cost before you commit to anything.

Will you tell me the cost before treatment begins?

Always. Nothing gets scheduled or started until Dr. Smith has reviewed your options with you and you've received a written estimate that shows the fee, your insurance's expected share, and your out-of-pocket portion. If cost is a concern, we'll walk through alternatives together.

Question 6

What should I bring to my first visit?

Accepted Answer

Please bring a photo ID, your dental insurance card (and medical insurance card if you have one), a list of current medications and dosages, and the name and phone number of your previous dentist if you'd like us to request records. If you take a blood thinner, have a heart condition, joint replacement, or any condition requiring pre-medication, let us know when you book so we can prepare accordingly. Plan to arrive about 10 minutes early to complete new-patient paperwork — or download and fill it out at home if you'd prefer.

Question 7

How long is a first visit, and what happens?

Plan on roughly 60 to 90 minutes. Dr. Smith will review your health history with you, take any needed x-rays, perform a comprehensive exam (teeth, gums, bite, and an oral-cancer screening), and — when appropriate — do your cleaning the same day. You'll leave with a clear plan and, if any treatment is recommended, a written cost estimate.

What is your cancellation policy?
